Free, anonymous, and confidential HIV testing. The new OraQuick ADVANCE test, with results available in less than 1 hour, is available at the Damien Center. A trained case manager is always available to meet with newly diagnosed individuals. No appointment is necessary but encouraged.
The test is a simple process. An oral swab is used to collect a saliva sample and is then transferred to a vial where it is mixed with a developing solution. This solution will indicate if HIV-1 antibodies are present by displaying the result in a small window on the swab.
